Trockenstress zuverlässig quantifizieren

Insufficient drought stress data in the sensor chaos

Research into the drought stress of living woody plants has become a major focus of science, especially in times of advancing climate change. While a large number of sensors are already being used in this field of research, they are generally affected by one of the following problems:

  • Indirect and therefore inaccurate measurement methods
  • High-maintenance and unwieldy superstructures

While inaccurate measurement data can be combated with a wide range of sensor types, the next problem already arises here: each sensor type has its own way of storing the data. All the data has to be laboriously compiled in a standardized Excel spreadsheet. Monitoring the test procedure is often complex and time-consuming. In the worst case, reactions to critical test events are delayed.

Precision and order with TreeSense

The TreeSense Cloud brings together all information on tree research. No matter which sensor technology is used: Whether dendrometer, soil moisture or TreeSense's own pulse for low-maintenance and precise determination of drought stress in living woody plants. The sensor is characterized by precise measurement of drought stress directly on the plant, while at the same time being very compact and largely maintenance-free. The data from the Pulse, as well as the data from any other sensor system, is displayed and combined in real time. In this way, the test procedure can be monitored at any time and any necessary reactions can be initiated. Data on trees can be noted on a map at the relevant location and ongoing work can be logged. The data can be downloaded at any time as a .csv file for further processing.

Determination of drought stress with Pulse

TreeSense Cloud - All data centrally available

Focus on your research - not the technology

Focus completely on your research and not on data provision. The assignment to trees and visualization is done automatically by us. We will provide you with initial analyses and indicators. The associated data dashboard supports you in the detailed elaboration of your research question.

Our wealth of experience serves your research

FAQ Research
Do I have to use the Treesense Cloud to use sensors like Pulse?

Which sensor technology is best suited for my research?

The optimal sensor technology for your research depends on your specific requirements. We can advise you based on our experience with various sensors and, if necessary, share our findings from similar projects or facilitate networking with relevant partners.

How secure is data transmission?

As soon as data arrives on TreeSense servers, it is backed up and reliably available. Depending on the technology (LoRaWAN, NB-IoT), bottlenecks can occur on the transmission path. Data can be lost in the event of network outages, although such outages are rare and usually brief.

Which technology? LoRaWAN or NarrowBand IoT?

A good recommendation should be discussed individually. The choice between LoRaWAN and NarrowBand IoT depends on local availability. NarrowBand IoT is based on mobile radio and is location-dependent. If it is not available, setting up a LoRaWAN network with your own gateways can be an alternative.
